Each driver needs their own checkpoint completion. Helping a friend does not automatically share an unlock.

Use the Gimli Ridge map and Elvis Ridge landmark instead of searching every abandoned car.

A sensible first expedition

Start near a discovered cabin, choose one trail and check your recovery equipment. After the trip, compare what you gained with the next car upgrade you actually need. New vehicles do not inherit another vehicle’s purchased upgrades.

Which guide should you open?

If a consumable anchor seems impossible to pick up, use the recovery guide. If a friend’s challenge finished without crediting you, use the co-op guide. If you want the Niva-like vehicle, use the map guide rather than assuming every rescue rewards that car.
